🚩Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram🚩:-

🚩Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram🚩:-

Some people in order to malign our Dharm, call Shri Ram a selfish and cruel husband. On hearing a washer man’s conversation, he threw his pregnant wife, out of the house to wander in the streets, abandoning her.

In reality, Valmiki Ramayan has no mention of any such washer man.

Ramji is discussing about the welfare of his subjects with his friends as to what do the subjects think of him?

It’s then, that a friend called Bhadra tells him that, people are criticising the fact that you have accepted your wife, in spite of her staying with another man (Ravan).

The subjects feel that their women folk will also behave the same way, if a woman who has lived with another man is respected. The subjects get encouraged to follow their king as an example.

Ram thought that, All women may not be as ethical as Sita, and they shouldn’t take advantage of this by spreading adultery in the kingdom. Hence considering this point, he took the drastic step of sending Sita ji in the forest.

It’s of utmost priority for a King to follow his royal duties. Other personal duties are secondary.

We must try to understand his anguish behind this. During those days, a king could marry many times but Ramji didn't marry again. He loved Sitaji all his life and only accepted her as his wife.

His grief at his father’s demise, 14 years exile, separation from his mother, sacrifice of all comforts of life, his wife’s abandonment, sacrificing the experience of fatherhood and sacrificing his children---- must be understood by us.

But Ramji sacrificed all this, without even a momentary second thought, for the welfare of his kingdom.

Can such a person who sacrificed everything, be called a selfish and cruel person?

No, Never !!

On the one hand, while fulfilling his royal duties, he abandoned his wife and on the other hand he sent her to Rishi Valmiki’s cottage to safeguard her.

He was well aware that his pregnant wife would be looked after properly and his children would get best education from a great saint and theologian like Valmiki.

Even during these rugged times, he tried his best to fulfil his duties as a husband and father.

Before we open our mouths to utter anything wrong about our Gods and Dharm, we should verify its authenticity and start taking a stand for the truth.

We should place ourselves in that person’s shoes and evaluate the conditions accordingly, before we accuse him of anything. Please read authentic reference to understand our Gods in a better way

Jai Shree Ram !!
